South Sea Cruises approached us with a clear ambition: to move beyond the traditional ‘bure’ typology and explore a new architectural language for their exclusive island destination. Through a collaborative series of design workshops, we developed a minimalist, contemporary approach that responded sensitively to the unique island context.
The resulting design is a collection of low-lying, carefully integrated structures that nestle into the surrounding vegetation, minimising their visual and environmental impact. Rather than dominate the landscape, the architecture frames and enhances it - offering visitors a refined, understated experience that feels at one with the island.
Malamala Beach Club has been widely praised for its sophistication and site-responsive design, providing a space where the natural beauty of the setting takes centre stage.
