Trette Residence
Suva, Central Division, Fiji
2021
Situated on 150 acres of secluded beachfront land, this exceptional private estate occupies a remote site on one of Fiji’s outer islands - accessible only by sea. The project was delivered in carefully phased stages, responding to the logistical and environmental challenges of the isolated location while maintaining a commitment to craftsmanship and quality at every step.
The development began with the construction of three traditional bures, designed to nestle into the natural contours of the coastline and built using regionally sourced materials and techniques. These were soon followed by two additional bures, a chapel, and the supporting infrastructure required to ensure the site’s long-term sustainability and self-sufficiency.
The centrepiece of the estate is a grand colonial-style villa, positioned strategically on a natural rise between two pristine beaches. Designed to evoke the elegance of early tropical architecture, the villa combines generous verandahs, high ceilings, and finely crafted timber detailing - bringing together both heritage inspiration and contemporary comfort.
To enhance access to the property, Architects Pacific also oversaw the design and construction of a deep-water jetty, allowing for secure arrival by sea in all conditions.
The estate has been widely praised for its exceptional build quality, with one review describing it as “a quality of construction unseen before in Fiji - workmanship that reflects a true pursuit of perfection.” This project stands as a testament to our ability to deliver world-class architecture in some of the region’s most remote and challenging environments.
